It’s that time of year again!!
Yard sale madness! Garage sales everywhere!
I’ve been thinking about my loads of belongings, whether or not if I should get rid of at least a few items as well. Let me know if I’m the only one or not :). And then, during my daily Bible reading, I came across this verse (Matthew 6:19-21)
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”
I didn’t even know what I was looking for. What I got from these verses really got to me. It’s true. We don’t take any of those belongings to heaven, so what’s the point of burying your home in many items that we often don’t look at for years to come? I understand pictures though. I never really had a lot of stuff anyway probably because it’s easier to pack up when I move 🙂
When we die, what happens to the belongings? Most of them get given away except truly sentimental items of course.
So, what truly matters to you? Love? Peace? Kindness? Family? Friends? That piece of clothing you’ve had since you were 14? Ok, I admit some pieces of clothing could have some sort of sentiment value such as an event you took a part in, but it truly makes you think.
I would love to hear your thoughts about this verse.
I hope all is well!
